The Faithful Scribbler

A Catholic Mother In A Secular World

The Standoff…

on August 2, 2010

Little Scribbler vs. Kitty.  Kitty has taken refuge under the bed.  Little Scribbler is pacing all around the bed, weilding a pair of 180 earmuffs.  Unless Kitty wants cozy, warm ears, I have advised him to maintain his position until she loses interest.

I have really missed your musings. And I pity poor kitty:)

Death is the reason one is born, certanily it’s fine and quite normal to have fear, reservations and the like.

Over the years I have noticed that it sems harder, more final for non-Catholics than Catholics, and it’s even harder for non-Christians. Kind of like that Sad song: “Is That All There Is?”

It is important to keep in mind it is EVER too late to REPENT and Convert until it is too late! Non Catholic Christians can be forgiven though as sincere act of “Perfect Contrition.” The lingering isue is what is in God’s view….”Perfect Contrition.” We Catholic don’t have to guess because Jesus Himself gave us the Sacrament of Confession..KNOWN FORGIVENESS OF OUR SINS.

    John.20 Verses 20 to 23

” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.[U] Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.

I PERSONALLY favor taking kids to funerals for the following reasons:

    Closure

Teaching opportunity [while it may upset them to see mom and dad cry….mom’s and dads DO CRYcan teach thm it’s OK to cry sometimes.

Young children are often a necessary change of focus, a needed distraction as well as levity, and GREAT JOY!

If ones outlook on death is positive [although sad] we can share our thoughts of heaven and let them know it’s OK!

Scribbler, you the Auditor and LS are in my thougts an prayers. Seek comfort in knowing that God is in charge, is merciful and loves each of us very much.

    God bless,

    Patrick
